We worked as Architects and Lead Consultants for the Design & Development of Hamsterley Forest Visitor Centre, on behalf of Forestry England.
The overall proposal comprises of the following elements:
- Visitor Centre
- Cycle Hub
- WC Block Refurbishment
- Car Park
The proposal for the Visitor Centre site includes a Cafe with 120 internal covers, an Office suitable for up to 12 members of staff, a Flexible Teaching Space, external Decking and 5 Accessible EV Parking Spaces.
The material palette of the entire project aims to respond to the context of the surrounding forest. The proposed materials for each element of the project are as follows:
Visitor Centre:
- Existing UK Sourced Horizontal Timber Cladding Through the use of sustainable materials, the project aspires to be Net Carbon Zero..
- Glulam Column and Beam Structure for the Front of House
- Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Superstructure
