Steel frame at Fish Tank complete…

Progress at the Fish Tank site is well under-way and the installation of both the steel frame and the pool tank is now complete!

The Fish Tank, once completed, will accommodate circa 540sqm of leisure, education and business hub facilities in the heart of Newton Aycliffe’s established Business Park. Primarily designed to get children active and support local family-related businesses, the fully serviced venue will comprise of activity rooms, office accommodation, coffee shop, a hydrotherapy swimming pool, and integrated external landscaping.

In collaboration with Northern Bear construction and Portland Consultants, the installation of the cost-effective portal steel frame has been completed and painted. Additionally, the installation of the roof covering of composite panels and the roof parapet SFS has also been finished, meaning the next stage of the façade can progress. Internally, there have been major developments and work on the concrete main pool tank and the assisting balance tank is now finished, as well as the installation of the masonry up to damp proof course. Currently, the ground within the structure is being lined with insulation and membrane to receive concrete.

Senior Architect John Carr who is leading the project said, “After a long design process in which we overcame some challenges, we are delighted to see the substantial amount of progress being made on site. Through forming a collaborative relationship with the client we have been able to produce a design that exceeds their brief and we look forward to the completion of the internal structure!”
