We are leading a project to alter Lemington Methodist Church in west Newcastle. The works will improve accessibility for the congregation and support key community services, including food and clothing bank distribution.
Phase one is now on site. It includes changes to the front entrance to provide level access, the installation of a new staircase, and the creation of dedicated food bank facilities. These works form part of a wider scheme to improve access throughout the building. The project will strengthen community outreach and benefit the wider area.
Kayleigh Metcalf, architectural project lead, said:
“We’re delighted to be working with Lemington Methodist Church on a project that will have a real impact on the local community. Methodist churches can access funding to appoint architects like us to carry out feasibility studies. These studies explore ways to improve church buildings, generate income, and bring underused spaces back into use. This could include converting space into apartments or creating community halls to support local initiatives.
“We’re also pleased to be working with Chris Hunter as contractor. It’s great to see a local project designed and delivered by local businesses for the benefit of local people.”
