Newgate Street Morpeth gains Planning Approval

We are delighted to confirm that our proposals for the redevelopment of the former Northumberland County Council Offices on Newgate Street Morpeth have gained planning approval.

Working with the Local Authority and Developers, Northumberland Limited, the proposals see the retention of the Grade 2 listed building which is converted into 13 bespoke apartments with a further four new build cottages within the grounds. The design follows extensive public consultations with the local community and various statutory bodies and responds to heritage advice, which will see many of the original features of the building retained and incorporated within each bespoke apartment.

Technical design has now commenced and work is due to start on site in June.

Chris Allan, Architectural Director said:

“This project is an excellent example of working with and listening to the community. Through a number of public consultation events our designs have been informed and developed to provide what we hope will prove to be a sustainable solution which is not overdeveloped and retains an historic building.”
